Overview:

Toupret Anti-Damp Render is a cement-based powder filler that forms a breathable barrier on damp, porous and untreated masonry. It controls moisture on both interior and exterior surfaces while allowing the substrate to breathe. No substrate sealing is required before application.

On exterior surfaces, the render blocks water penetration. On interior surfaces - such as cellars, basements and garages - it acts as a water barrier while remaining highly permeable to water vapour. This permeability prevents moisture from becoming trapped within the wall structure.

Mix 220ml of water per 1kg of powder (22%). Allow to stand for 15 minutes, then stir again before use. Apply between 2mm and 1cm thick, with coverage of 1.5kg per m² at 1mm depth. Once fully dry, it accepts paint, wall coatings or any Toupret filler.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Breathable Barrier: Forms a water-resistant barrier on damp, porous and untreated masonry while allowing the substrate to breathe
  • Application: Apply by trowel, coating blade or brush between 2mm and 1cm thick
  • Working Time: 3 to 4 hours at 20°C
  • Adhesion: Filler-to-substrate bond strength exceeding 0.8MPa (EN 16566)
  • Indoor Air Quality: IAQ rated A+ with very low VOC emissions (under 0.5g/l)
  • Overcoating: Ready to paint or coat in 12 to 24 hours
  • No Sealing Required: Applies directly to dry or damp substrates without prior sealing
  • Interior Moisture Control: Acts as a moisture barrier on interior surfaces while allowing water vapour to pass through
  • Exterior Protection: Blocks water penetration on exposed exterior masonry surfaces
  • Water Vapour Permeability: Class I (V1) per EN 16566 - highly moisture vapour permeable
  • Liquid Water Permeability: Class III (W3) per EN 16566 - low water permeability
  • Guarantee: 6 months from date of purchase in original, sealed packaging

Typical Applications

  • Treating damp masonry in cellars and basements
  • Waterproofing exterior masonry walls against water penetration
  • Treating garages with persistent moisture issues
  • Applying to cement, concrete, cellular concrete and breeze block surfaces
  • Preparing raw masonry before painting or wall coating
  • Levelling and filling irregularities on bare masonry substrates
  • Treating brick and stone walls affected by damp
  • Protecting interior and exterior raw masonry on non-dripping substrates

How to Use

  • Surfacee Preparation: Strip suurfaces down to bare masonry before application. The surface must not be actively dripping or running with water.

  • Mixing: Add 220ml of water per 1kg of powder (22%). Allow the mixture to stand for 15 minutes, then stir again before application.

  • Application: Apply using a trowel, coating blade or brush. Work the product to a depth between 2mm and 1cm.

  • Minimum Coat Thickness: A minimum depth of 2mm is required for the anti-damp properties to take effect.

  • Drying and Overcoating: Allow 12 to 24 hours before painting or applying a further coat. A second coat may go on as soon as the first is hard and dry to the touch.

  • Safety: Wear gloves, eye protection and a dust mask throughout. Do not apply below 5°C, above 35°C, or at a relative humidity above 80%.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Is Anti-Damp Render a filler or a render?
It functions as both. The product is a powder filler with a high cement content that performs a rendering role on masonry substrates. Added water-repellent agents allow it to block water penetration while still allowing water vapour to pass through.

  • What is the maximum depth for Anti-Damp Render?
Apply the product up to a maximum depth of 1cm. Going deeper may compromise the breathable barrier - restricting moisture flow to the point where water forces through the filler and causes it to detach from the substrate.

  • How long does Anti-Damp Render take to dry before painting?
Under normal conditions, the product is ready to paint in 12 to 24 hours. Drying times vary based on coat thickness, substrate type, temperature and relative humidity.

  • What type of paint can be used over Anti-Damp Render?
Any moisture vapour permeable coating is suitable once the render has fully dried. The paint must carry a minimum V2 classification per NF EN 1062-1 to maintain the breathable barrier created by the filler.

  • Does the substrate need to be sealed before applying Anti-Damp Render?
No sealing is required. The product applies directly to raw masonry. Strip the surface back to bare masonry beforehand, and make sure it is damp or dry - not actively dripping.
