Overview:

Toupret Exterior Rock Solid Repair Filler is a cement-based powder filler that sets to an exceptionally hard finish, with outstanding adhesion across a wide range of surfaces. It bonds to surfaces including concrete, breeze blocks, brick, stone, glass, and glazed tiles. There is no fill depth limit, making it suited to both minor surface blemishes and more substantial repair work.

Mix the powder with water at a ratio of 450ml per 1kg (45%) to achieve a working time of 30 minutes. Once applied, the filler can be overcoated within 24 hours, subject to substrate, coat thickness, and ambient conditions. Overcoat with any waterborne masonry paint, mineral paint, or organic and siloxane binder paint.

The product conforms to BS EN 16566:2014 and achieves an adhesion of over 0.8 MPa (EN 16-566). It carries a 6-month guarantee from the date of purchase when stored in its original packaging and kept away from humidity.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Rock hard set: Sets to an extremely hard finish with exceptional adhesion - no fill depth limit.
  • Adhesion performance: Achieves filler-to-substrate adhesion greater than 0.8 MPa, tested to EN 16-566.
  • Overcoat time: Ready to paint or overcoat within 24 hours under average conditions.
  • Working time: 30-minute pot life after mixing, allowing time to shape and finish the repair.
  • Shapeable without formwork: Can be built up and moulded by hand without requiring shuttering or moulds.
  • No substrate sealing required: Bonds directly to unprepared substrates without a primer coat (see datasheet for full guidance).
  • Rich in resin: High resin content contributes to its hard, weather-resistant set.
  • Wide substrate compatibility: Suitable for gypsum plaster, old painted surfaces, cement, concrete, breeze blocks, bricks, stones, glass, and glazed tiles.
  • Overcoating compatibility: Accepts any waterborne masonry paint, mineral paint, or organic coating. Apply a waterborne primer first if using a solvent-based topcoat.
  • Mix yield: 1kg of powder fills 1L when mixed - mixing ratio is 45% water by powder weight.
  • Conforms to BS EN 16566:2014: Classified as Family IV class 4c under NFT 36 005.
  • 6-month guarantee: Guaranteed from the date of purchase in original, unopened packaging stored away from humidity.

Typical Applications

  • Crack and hole repairs: Filling cracks and holes of any depth in exterior masonry walls and rendered surfaces.
  • Concrete repairs: Repairing spalled, damaged, or defective concrete.
  • Masonry repairs: Filling and repairing breeze block, brick, and stone substrates.
  • Deep-fill work: Building up substantial fills in a single application without depth restriction.
  • Shaped repairs: Restoring profiles and mouldings on exterior surfaces without formwork.
  • Multi-substrate repairs: Tackling repair areas that cross different substrates - including glass and glazed tiles.
  • Pre-paint preparation: Preparing and levelling exterior surfaces prior to applying masonry paint.
  • Painted surface repairs: Filling defects in old painted exterior walls ahead of redecoration.

How to Use

  • Surface preparation: Substrates must be hard, cohesive, clean, sound, and dry before application. Prepare surfaces in line with current trade practices.

  • Mixing: Add 450ml of clean water per 1kg of powder (45%). Pour the powder into water at room temperature and stir until smooth and free of lumps.

  • Application: Apply using a filling knife, trowel, or blade. Work the material into the repair and shape as required. There is no fill depth limit.

  • Working time: Use the mixed product within 30 minutes. Do not add more water to extend workability once the product has begun to stiffen.

  • Overcoating: Allow a minimum of 24 hours before applying any overcoat. This time varies with substrate, coat thickness, temperature, and humidity. Apply a waterborne masonry primer first if using polyurethane or epoxy solvent-based topcoats.

  • Tool cleaning: Rub dried product residue from tools once set. Water cleaning is not necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • What conditions are needed to apply Exterior Rock Solid Repair Filler?
Apply the product at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C and at a relative humidity below 80%. Working and drying times are indicative and will vary depending on the substrate, applied thickness, and site conditions.

  • Is there a maximum fill depth for this product?
No. Rock Solid Repair Filler carries no depth limit. It can be applied to any thickness without additional reinforcement or formwork, though the 24-hour overcoat time may extend for very thick applications.

  • Can this filler be used under solvent-based paints?
Do not overcoat directly with polyurethane or epoxy solvent-based paints. Where a solvent-based topcoat is required, first apply a waterborne masonry primer coat and allow it to dry before continuing.

  • What safety precautions should be taken when using this product?
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses during mixing and application. When sanding, always wear a P2 dust mask. The product contains cement - avoid breathing dust and wash hands thoroughly after use. Keep out of reach of children.

  • How long is the product guaranteed for?
Toupret Exterior Rock Solid Repair Filler carries a 6-month guarantee from the date of purchase. The product must remain in its original packaging and be stored away from humidity. A replacement will be arranged on proof of purchase if a fault is found within the guarantee period.
