Overview:
Alpha Chem Solvent External Water Seal is a high performance, solvent-based water repellent supplied in a 25 litre trade drum. It is specially formulated to give a transparent, breathable and long-lasting water-resistant finish on many porous exterior surfaces, including masonry, brick, render, concrete, pebble dash and previously treated exterior timber.
The micro-porous clear treatment penetrates deeply into the substrate, chemically bonding to create durable water beading that helps protect against rain penetration and weathering. It is ideal for large scale trade projects and maintenance work where long-term water repellence is required.

How to Use
Ensure surfaces are sound, dry, clean and free from dirt, dust, oil, grease and organic growth before application.
Do not apply for 2–3 days after rain; the substrate must be sufficiently dry to allow good penetration.
Shake the container well before use; the product is supplied ready-to-use and must not be diluted.
Apply liberally by soft-bristled brush, roller or low-pressure spray using a coarse nozzle to avoid misting.
Treat from the top of the surface working downwards, ensuring complete, even coverage and allowing run-down to wet the area below.
On masonry a single generous coat is usually sufficient; on porous surfaces a second coat may be applied once the first has dried.
On exterior wood, apply two coats as required. Mask windows and glazed areas and wipe any splashes immediately with white spirit.
Clean all tools and equipment with white spirit immediately after use.
Alpha Chem Solvent External Water Seal 25L – Key FAQs
What surfaces can this water seal be used on?
It is suitable for exterior masonry, brick, render, concrete, pebble dash and exterior timber previously treated with preservative. It must not be used on natural stone.
Can I paint over this water seal after application?
No, this product cannot be over-painted and should be used as a final treatment. It may affect adhesion of subsequent coatings and is not intended as a paintable base.
How many coats are normally required?
Most masonry surfaces only need one liberal coat. Very porous surfaces may benefit from a second coat once the first has dried. Exterior wood generally requires two coats.
How much coverage will I get from 25 litres?
Coverage depends on porosity. As a guide, 2–4 m² per litre per coat is typical, so a 25L drum may cover approximately 50–100 m² per coat.
Can I apply it soon after rain or on damp walls?
No, do not apply within 2–3 days of rainfall or onto wet substrates. Surfaces must be dry enough to allow proper penetration for effective water repellence.
How should I deal with windows and other smooth surfaces?
Mask off windows, glazed areas and any surfaces that should not be treated. If splashes occur, wipe them away immediately using white spirit.
Please note:
Tins and drums may become dented in transit. This cosmetic damage is not a reason for return please do not purchase tinned products if minor denting is an issue for you.
