Prepare the area and your self:

The first step to grouting tiles is to prepare your work area, clean your tiles make sure there is no proud tile adhesive.If you’re working on wall tiles, we recommend laying out some dust sheets on the floor and securing them with masking tape before doing anything else.or using roll and stroll, this will reduce mess and means that you won’t need to spend as much time cleaning up after you’ve finished.In addition, make sure that you’re wearing any appropriate health and safety equipment; for example, safety glasses knee pads are important when doing floors, You may also want some Everbuild Wonder Wipes ready to use to minimise time spent cleaning your hands afterwards.

How To Mix Sika SikaCeram CleanGrout:

1. Use a low speed electric single paddle mixer at a low 500 rpm with a spiral mixing paddle.
2. Pour the recommended amount of clean cold water into a clean mixing container.
3. Gradually add SikaCeram Clean-Grout powder to the water while still mixing.
4. Mix thoroughly until a uniformly coloured and smooth mix is achieved.
5. The sides of the mixing bucket can be brought into the mix by using a bucket trowel to prevent any dry lumps in the mixed tile grout.
6. Stop mixing for 2 to 3 minutes and allow the mixed tile grout to stand.
7. Resume mixing for a further 30 seconds only.

Spreading Your Tile Grout:

Applying the grout to your surface its always best to test the grout on a small section of tiles first to check that it is compatible and best practises, it can help to split your job into manageable sections to ensure the grout doesn’t dry out a 1 meter by 1 meter sections is usually a good size.scoop up a small amount of the grout mixture using a rubber float and spread it over the joints between tiles working at a 45 degrees in order to get the mixture right in between the tiles but not damaging the joint with your float You can also use the rounded corner of the float to compress the grout into the joints; if it’s not compact then the grout won’t hold its strength.Continue to add more grout until all the joints have been fully filled.It’s important to note that grout should only go between two sets of tiles; any joints that are between tiles and another surface should be left empty as these can be sealed with a Silicone Sealant at a later time.

Removing Excess Grout from the tile surface:

Remove any excess grout from the tiles with the rubber float or grouting squeegee angling the float so as not to damage the grout in the joint.

Smoothing and Firming The Tile grout:

There are many tools that can be used to aid in this the rounded corner of the tile grout float or the back of a toothbrush to shape your grout, similar to how you did this earlier.This will also have the added effect of compressing the grout to ensure that it does not crack or weaken at a later time.Be careful not to remove too much grout whilst doing this

Wipe off excess Tile Grout:

Approximately 30 minutes after first applying the grout this may differ depending on room temperatures etc.Fill an empty bucket with water and dip the grouting sponge into it.From here, apply the sponge on to the tiles and wipe off any excess grout being gentle around the joints.It’s important to focus on the surface of the tiles here rather than the joints.

Clean your tiles:

Leaving your tiles to dry for another 30 minutes or so by this time, you may notice a thin layer of powder on the tiles that's normal use a microfiber cloth to buff the tiles and remove this powder, leaving a clean, shiny finish do not use chemicals.

The Day after and Not Before:

Perimeter pointing may be done with an appropriate silicone sealant if going up against a hard surface such as a toilet pan or skirting edge, decorator's caulk can be used when finishing up against a painted wall for instance.
