How to Use Sika Damp Proof Slurry:

  1. Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface is clean, sound, and free from loose material or contaminants. Dampen the surface with clean water before application.
  2. Mix the Slurry: Gradually add the powder to clean water and mix until a lump-free, creamy consistency is achieved.
  3. Apply the Slurry: Use a brush, roller, or spray to apply the slurry in an even layer.
  4. Allow to Set: Let the first coat cure before applying a second layer if required.
  5. Protect During Curing: Ensure the surface remains damp during curing to achieve optimal performance.


Layer Thickness:

  • 1mm min. 2mm max in 1 coat.
  • For damp-proofing use minimum 2.0mm thickness
  • For waterproofing use minimum 4.0mm thickness 2 coats minimum by brush.


Coverage:

  • Dependent on the substrate roughness, surface profile and thickness of the layer applied.
  • As a guide, 2.1 kg/m2/mm excluding allowances for loss wastage, surface profile and porosity, etc.
  • 1 unit of 25 kg yields will cover approximately 6.5-7.0m2 @ 2.0mm thickness.


Mixing:

  • Slurry application by brush: 4.5 to 4.7 Litres of water per 25 kg bag.
  • Mortar application by trowel: 4.0 to 4.25 Litres of water per 25 kg bag.
  • Spray application: 4.0 to 4.5 Litres of water per 25 kg bag.


Waiting Time and Over coating:

  • Apply 2nd coat within 24 hours of first coat.


Notes:

Sika Damp-proofing Slurry does not provide a trafficable finish on floors it will need to be protected with a levelling screed.

Special attention is required to avoid puncturing the waterproof coating with fixings, these should be accommodated either by surface bonding

with Sikaflex EBT adhesive or similar high bond adhesive.


Sika Damp Proofing Slurry will not bond to surfaces that have been treated previously with a water repellent, finishing plasters may take longer to set when applied over the Damp-proofing Slurry.
