Bond it 1 Litre Tin of trowel applied black heavily filled fibre re-enforced bituminous repair compound it has a multitude of repair applications in boats gutters but it primarily used for patching holes in roofs and bituminous coatings.

Bond it trowel mastic forms a surface skin, but the mass below remains soft to allow for reasonable movement accommodation.

Bitubond trowel mastic is suitable for sealing and filling holes in mastic asphalt, roofing felt, corrugated iron, metal guttering and downpipes and troublesome roof repair areas and was the go to product for boat building and repairs for many years

Preparation

All surfaces must be structurally sound, clean, dry and free from surface contaminants such as grease, rust and dirt.

If necessary, remove any organic growth lichen etc treat with a fungicidal wash such as Bond It MOULD STOP.

If the surface is still dusty after cleaning, or covered with weathered bitumen, prime with BITUMEN PRIMER and allow to dry.

Application

Bond it trowel mastic is ready for use from the tin and should not be thinned.

Apply by steel trowel or putty knife or filling blade forcing deep into the hole or joints.

Cracks and Holes:

Force the compound into the crack finishing with a 25mm band at a 3mm thickness running the length of the crack so your bridging the crack.

For large cracks & holes, apply the compound over the area to be treated and embed a closely woven glass fibre membrane into the compound overlap the crack or hole by 50mm.

Allow to dry and then apply a second coat, fully covering the reinforcing membrane.
