Sika Sikaceram 140 Rapid Set Powdered Floor and Wall Tile Adhesive 20kg bag is a cement-based polymer modified powdered tile adhesive with rapid setting properties.

Specifically designed for same day fixing and grouting of ceramic floor tiles it has excellent adhesion properties.

Suitable for fixing most substrates including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, concrete, chipboard and timber.

Sika Sikaceram 140 is water resistant and is suitable for tiling domestic communal and power showers.

SikaCeram 140 Rapid Set is a rapid-setting, water resistant tile adhesive that is suitable for bonding ceramic and mosaic tiles to floors or walls, and suitable for both thick and thin bed applications. This product is ideal for when same day fixing is required and can be used internally or externally. Tiles can be grouted approx. 1-2 hours after fixing subject to normal room temperatures. Suitable for application on most building substrates, including but not limited to, cement or concrete substrates, building blocks, brickwork, etc

Sikaceram 140 Rapid Set Application Instructions:

Concrete Screeds Renders:

• Allow fresh concrete etc to dry for at least 4 weeks before tiling.
• Prime surfaces with SikaBond PVA+ diluted 3 parts water to 1 part PVA Bond and allow to dry.
  

Timber Floors floorboards:

• Suitable for interior floors only.
• Ensure adequate ventilation beneath floors.
• Cover with boarding plywood or chipboard which must be at least 12mm thick and be of moisture resistant grade.
• Secure with wood screws, not nails, at 150mm centres.
• Prime with SikaBond SBR+ at 1:3 dilution rate.
• Adhesive must be mixed with SikaBond SBR+ diluted 1:1 with water
  

Softwood tongue and groove boarding:

• Boards must be screwed down to joists at 300mm centres and surfaces sealed with SikaBond SBR+ at 1:3 dilution.
• Adhesive must be mixed with neat SikaBond SBR+ to ensure long term flexibility.
• Note: this will slightly retard the set.
  

Existing tiling:

• Ensure tiles are securely bonded to wall.
• Roughen surface of glazed tiles with sander.
• Apply a bonding coat of neat SikaBond PVA+ or Everbuild 505 plasterers gripcoat.
• Mix adhesive with SikaBond SBR+ diluted 1:1 with water.
• Apply adhesive whilst bonding coat is still tacky.
  

Mixing:

• SikaCeram 140 Rapid Set should be added to clean water in a mixing bucket and mixed with a paddle mixer if available.
• The sides of the bucket can be brought into the mix by using a bucket trowel to prevent any dry lumps in the mixed tile adhesive.
  
• Mix approximately three parts by volume powder to 1 part by volume water approximately which is approximately 4 to 1 by weight and mix to a slump free mortar.
• Always add powder to water.
  

Application:

1. Spread adhesive to a depth of 6mm and comb to 3mm with an adhesive trowel to leave a solid bed with 3mm ribs.
2. Work in an area no greater than 1 meter square or equivalent to 20 minutes working time.
3. Press the tiles firmly into place using a slight twisting action.
4. Tile positions can be adjusted up to 20 minutes after initial fixing.
5. Leave a grout joint of at least 3mm this can be done using tile spacers unless self spacing tiles are used.
6. Surface adhesive should be cleaned from the faces of the tiles with a moist cloth.
7. Rake out excessive adhesive from within joints before setting takes place.
8. The open time of the exposed adhesive bed is approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on surface porosity and site conditions.
9. Initial set will occur between 1-2 hours.
10. This product will fully harden in approximately 24 hours.
11. It is important the tiles are left undisturbed for a minimum of 2 hours after fixing at normal room temperatures.
12. Do not use at temperatures below +4 deg C.

Grouting:

1. Allow 3 to 4 hours before grouting depending on site conditions or when tiles are sufficiently firm to accept light foot traffic.
2. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for protecting and sealing the tiles before and after grouting.
