How to Use

  • Ensure paving is laid correctly and joints are at least 5mm wide and 20mm deep, free from loose debris and standing water.

  • Thoroughly wet the entire paving surface and joints with clean water, then allow excess standing water to drain away.

  • Open the tub, remove the foil pack and cut it open. Use the material within one hour; store any unused compound under water in the tub (up to about one month).

  • Break up the compound so it is loose and crumbly. Do not try to use any hard lumps or add extra sand.

  • Using a soft broom or hand brush, work Sika FastFix into the joints, ensuring each joint is completely filled.

  • Compact the material firmly into the joints with a suitable pointing trowel, smoothing to the desired finish level – thorough compaction is essential.

  • In good, dry conditions above 15°C, FastFix will begin to set in 6–12 hours. In cooler or damp weather, allow longer before heavy use and protect from disturbance until fully set.

Sika FastFix All Weather Jointing Compound – Key FAQs

  • What is Sika FastFix used for?
It’s a ready-to-use paving jointing compound for filling joints between slabs and blocks on paths, patios and driveways, giving a hard-wearing, low-maintenance finish.

  • What paving types is it suitable for?
It can be used with many natural stone and concrete paving types, including slabs, block paving, cobbles and setts, as long as the joints are at least 5mm wide and 20mm deep.

  • Can I apply it in wet weather?
Yes, it’s designed for all-weather use. The surface should be thoroughly soaked before application, but avoid leaving standing water in the joints when brushing in the compound.

  • Does it help prevent weeds?
When properly compacted and set, the hardened joints help inhibit weed growth by blocking light and filling gaps where seeds and debris would usually collect.

  • Will the joints wash out or crack over time?
Once fully cured, the material is formulated not to blow, crack or wash out under normal weather conditions and regular cleaning when installed to the manufacturer’s guidance.

  • How long before I can walk or drive on the paving?
In warm, dry conditions you can normally walk on the area after about 24 hours. Heavier use and driveways should be left longer, especially in cooler or damp weather.

  • Can I reuse what’s left in the tub?
Yes, any unused compound can be returned to the bucket and stored under clean water with the lid sealed. When stored correctly, it can usually be reused for around a month.

  • What colours are available?
The range includes Dark Buff, Charcoal, Flint, Stone and Deep Grey, giving options to match or contrast with most popular paving styles.
