High Temperature Matt Black Heat Resistant Stove Spray Paint 400ml

Product Code: RP-1436

Barcode: 5055319514361

Colour: Matt Black

Overview:

Paint Factory High Temperature Matt Black Spray Paint is specially formulated for metal surfaces exposed to intense heat. Ideal for stoves, fireplaces, chimineas, BBQs, wood burners and flue pipes. it provides a tough, low-sheen matt black finish that is heat stable up to 600°C.

This 400ml aerosol delivers smooth, even coverage, dries quickly, and resists peeling, cracking and flaking when correctly cured. It is both decorative and protective, helping to refresh tired surfaces while offering excellent heat and rust resistance.

Each can is fitted with a transport safety ring under the nozzle to prevent accidental discharge in transit. This ring must be removed with a blunt tool or small screwdriver before use.

How to Use

  • Preparation:

    • Ensure the surface is cool, clean, dry and free from rust, loose paint, grease and contaminants.

    • Lightly abrade glossy or previously painted surfaces for better adhesion.

    • Mask off any areas you do not wish to paint.

  • Activation:

    • Shake the can vigorously for at least 2–3 minutes after the mixing ball begins to rattle.

    • Remove the safety ring from under the nozzle with a blunt tool or small screwdriver before spraying.

  • Application:

    • Hold the can approximately 20–30cm from the surface.

    • Apply 2–3 light coats, allowing a few minutes between coats rather than one heavy coat.

    • Spray in smooth, overlapping passes to avoid runs and sags.

  • Drying & Curing:

    • Touch dry in around 15–30 minutes depending on conditions.

    • Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before subjecting to heat.

    • Gradually heat the item on first use to fully cure the coating – the paint reaches maximum performance after it has been baked off.

  • Important:

    • Do not spray onto lit or hot surfaces.

    • Always use in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling spray mist.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What temperature can this paint withstand?
It is heat stable up to 600°C, making it suitable for most domestic stove, flue and high-heat metal applications.

  • Can it be used in direct flame contact areas?
It is intended for areas exposed to high radiant heat, not for constant direct flame contact.

  • Is it safe to use on BBQs?
Yes, it can be used on the external surfaces of BBQs and fire pits. It should not be applied to cooking grates or any food-contact areas.

  • Do I need to use a primer first?
On clean, bare ferrous metal a separate primer is usually not required. Ensure the surface is rust-free, dry and well prepared for best results.

  • How many coats should I apply?
For best coverage and durability, apply 2–3 light coats, allowing a short flash-off time between coats.

  • How long before I can use the stove or BBQ after painting?
Allow at least 24 hours drying time, then gradually bring the item up to temperature to fully cure the coating.

  • Can this paint be used outdoors?
Yes, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use on compatible, heat-exposed metal surfaces.

  • Will the finish peel or flake under heat?
When applied over a properly prepared surface and fully cured, it offers excellent adhesion and is designed to resist peeling, cracking and flaking under high heat.

  • Is there an odour when first heated?
You may notice some initial odour or light smoke during the first heat cycle. Use in a well-ventilated area and allow this to disperse.

  • Can I use it on radiators or heated towel rails?
Yes, it can be used on most metal heating surfaces, although the full 600°C resistance is generally more than required for standard radiators.
